Discovered lots of Lady’s Slippers on the trail today. They are a little early this year. Love these flowers. Provincial flower of Newfoundland and Labrador and a protected species in Nova Scotia.

Our picnic in the dunes at Kejimkujik Seaside Park, Port Joli, Nova Scotia (Oct. 22nd, 2011). Another amazing day at the park. Warm breeze (warm enough for shorts), bright sun and spectacular sky.

Did you know that geocaching is one of the fastest growing outdoor activities in North America? All you really need to participate is a GPS device and a list of caches in your area (check out geocaching.com). A few weeks ago I met Janet Grayney and her husband, Frank (from nearby Bridgewater) while walking the dogs. They are avid geocachers and between them have logged nearly 1600 caches. That’s a lot of searching!
