Discovered lots of Lady’s Slippers on the trail today. They are a little early this year. Love these flowers. Provincial flower of Newfoundland and Labrador and a protected species in Nova Scotia.
The Pitcher Plant, the provincial flower of Newfoundland and Labrador. This photo was taken a few years ago at Kejimkujik Seaside Park, Port Joli, Nova Scotia.
The first sighting of a porcupine in Newfoundland was recorded in October, 2011. In Nova Scotia they are very common and can be quite destructive. Met this guy on the trail a couple of years ago. Fun to watch, but keep them away from your dog. Could lead to an expensive vet bill.
